View RecordsCalifornia DMV is the record authority; use the specific request route that matches whose record you need and whether certification matters.
For your own California driver record, use the California DMV Driver’s Record Request service. DMV says the current record includes reportable convictions, departmental actions, and accidents. Requests for another person or for a certified mailed copy use different DMV forms/processes.
| Need | DMV route | What it provides | Limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Your own record online | DMV Driver’s Record Request | View/print your driver record | Online personal route |
| Another person’s record | INF 70 / DMV Records Requests | Request subject to DMV release rules | Not the own-record online flow |
| Certified copy | DMV mail/form route | Certified copy when available/requested | Separate from online printout |
Follow DMV authentication/payment instructions. The online fee is $2 per record; have a device ready and save or print the record before closing the shopping-cart confirmation page. DMV says closing that page before printing requires another purchase to access the record again.
DMV directs other-person requests to INF 70. For your own certified mailed record, complete INF 1125, mark the certification choice and mail it with the $5 per-record fee to the address on the form. The online printout and certified mailed copy are different delivery choices.
DMV explains current reportable convictions, departmental actions and accidents in the driver record.
Needed for the current online own-record request.
Use DMV credentials/record information required by the service.
Decide whether an online printout is enough.
Follow DMV permissible-use/release requirements.
California DMV distinguishes public record information from confidential personal information and publishes separate request paths for own and other-person records.
For a traffic violation or conviction error, use DL 207 and obtain supporting documentation from the reporting court, such as DL 157 or an original signed/certified court letter. For accident information, DMV’s Records Requests page and its linked DL 208 specify the separate Traffic Accident Record Correction Request. The online-driver FAQ instead names DL 207A for collision errors, so confirm the current collision form with DMV’s Mandatory Actions Unit at (916) 657-6525 before mailing. Do not use the violation-only DL 207 for a collision correction.
